Homemade Pizza


I’m sure we can all shake our hands and agree on the fact that homemade pizza is simply the best! You can pick your own ingredients and pick the ones you love the most and, of course, add as much cheese as you wish! And my favorite part is preparing the dough.


For the dough:

  • 350g flour
  • 230ml water – warmed to 38C (a kitchen thermometer will come in handy for this one)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 7g dry yeast (1 package)
  • 40ml olive oil

For the Pizzas:

  • 250g smoked bacon – sliced and cut into small pieces
  • 430g yellow cheese – shredded
  • 250g mozzarella – sliced
  • 350ml tomato sauce
  • 10g basil



First, start with sifting the flour. Put it in a large bowl, or a mixing bowl. Add the salt and sugar in and stir for a little bit to mix them all together. Then, warm up your water. You can do that either in the microwave or on the stove. Check with thermometer and make sure the water is not warmer than 38C. Warming up the water helps the yeast to activate, but if it’s too hot, this will kill the yeast. Once your water is prepped, add the dry yeast in and 2-3 pinches of the flour and stir. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes. Once the time has passed, your yeast should be foamy. If it’s not, then you will need to start all over again. It happens to everyone every once in a while, so don’t get discouraged! Once you have activated the yeast, make a small nest into the flour and pour it in along with the olive oil. Start mixing with a hook attachment. Stir for no less than 10 minutes, scraping off the bowl every once in a while to help the dough form evenly. If after 10 minutes, the dough is too sticky, add a couple of pinches of flour at the bottom of the bowl and on the dough and stir. At the end, you should get a soft and elastic dough.

Place in a greased bowl and let proof in a warm environment. It is ready when it is triple in size. Be patient, it will take a while.

When the dough has raised, divide it in 2 equal parts and prepare two pans to make your pizzas. Grease a pan and spread it in by hand, make sure there are no holes. If any hole emerges, pinch it with your fingers and add a very small amount of flour on it.

Mix in the basil into the tomato sauce. Add equal parts to each pizza. Add the yellow cheese and arrange the mozzarella. Add the bacon afterwards.

Bake in preheated oven on 220C for 12-15 minutes.
